Understanding the First Challenge

Come With Me For the Next 30 Days as we prepare food for the whole month, in one day!

I got the idea for this project from Loving My Nest, where Jessica made a month's worth of food in one day, froze it raw, and cooked it in the crockpot so that dinner pretty much made itself.  Sounds good right?  We shall try it out!

Here is everything you will need.

Not included in this list are the things that you most likely have at home already, like spices and vegetable broth.  Also include 30 gallon size freezer bags in that trip to the store.  My friend Alexandra also mentioned using crockpot liners.  Holy crap, why did I not think of that???

Jessica says this shopping list is good for 11 recipes. To get all 30+ meals, you will need to double or triple the recipes. Since it is just my husband and I, and two small kiddos, I think I am only going to double it. I figure I should be able to get at least eight days of leftovers from 22 meals. If you have a bigger family, or want to use the leftovers for your lunch, adjust accordingly. If you find yourself with leftovers, you could leave them in your freezer for a day when you don't feel like preparing a meal, or give it to a friend who doesn't feel like preparing a meal.

Here are the meals that we will make; Bean Stew, Meat Stew, Sausage and Bean Supper, Pork and Veggies, BBQ Chicken, Chicken Tortilla Soup, Chicken Taco Soup, Chicken and Sweet Potato Stew, Creamy Farmhouse Chicken and Garden Soup,  and Spaghetti Sauce.  All credit goes to Jessica from Loving My Nest for these great recipes.  Wish us luck!

So here we go...

I'm going shopping tomorrow to get prepared for this challenge.  I'll be sure to include photos and the cost I paid for all of my groceries in tomorrow's blog post.  My good friends Alexandra, Kerrie, Michelle (with her fancy Creuset), and Molly have all agreed to take this first challenge with me.  I can't wait to see their photos and read what they have to say about this challenge.  If you would like to join this challenge and share your experiences just email me your photos and stories at thirtydays@outlook.com
